February 26th - A NOTE FROM GENE Last week, I was in Nashville where I did the Keynote Speech for the Leadership Conference. Actually, a very cool initiative by people with power and access and the next generation of entrepreneurs, whom they mentor. No one taught me what I know. I had to go out there, dig and scratch and scrounge up the bits and pieces of "the puzzle". And, it's never easy. The tendency for people in power is not to have much time to show the ropes to up and comers. And, whenever I see new talent, or an ambitious young person, I always try to take time to sit, listen and then comment, critique, advise, offer some access when applicable. Because to become an entrepreneur, you must create your own business model, do your own research, fund it youself and ultimately do it yourself. And, this is not something you can learn in school. Gene, Today, on the Latin TV show Huevoscartoons, there was a snippet of you and the rest of the band in full costume and makeup, violently pummeling another character. I don't know if you're familiar with the show, but all the cartoon characters speak Spanish and are egg-shaped. I've not been able to find this episode anywhere else and wondered if you knew of it. Despite his violent behaviour, I thought you might enjoy seeing your "alter-eggo". See you on tour soon! The Professor Letters... February 17th - WARNING- FACEBOOK News sources have reported that FACEBOOK has changed the terms of use -- apparently without notifying users. They now allegedly have the right to use, edit, distribute, etc ...all content that users upload to the site. What that means, if the above is true, is that if you're on Facebook and have posted fotos, stories, whatever, they can use your stuff, without asking you in any way, shape or form...even after you've left Facebook and are no longer on it. The content belongs to Facebook!!! I've never been on Facebook or MySpace and have always stayed at arm's length from the internet chat sites. It's unpoliced and there seem to be no repercussions for slander and innuendo. So, if you're on these sites, be aware -- anything you post, might wind up being owned by them....forever. February 16th - LBJ & GENE SIMMONS OF KISS? (TEN TEACHERS WHO MADE A MARK IN ANOTHER FIELD) Gene Simmons was included in the "Ten Teachers Who Made a Mark in Another Field" list on Britannica.com . The list also included Alexander Graham Bell, Robert Frost and US Presidents John Adams & Lyndon B. Johnson, among other greats! These ten individuals left teaching and went on to achieve greatness in their chosen fields. For some, you might think it possible that they would have done still more good remaining in the classroom. (9) It is hard to believe that Gene Simmons could have been a teacher. He is known best as the frontman for the 1970’s rock band Kiss (right), known for outrageous shows during which Simmons would spit blood, breath fire, and taunt the audience. But Simmons did teach sixth grade in Spanish Harlem. Simmons was reportedly fired for, among other things, replacing the Shakespearean play in the curriculum with Spiderman comics.
