Over a year and a half ago, I had the distinct honor and privilege of ringing the bell at the NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE.

They invited me.

On the floor of the exchange, Fox Business Channel interviewed me.

What I said then, I say now: BELIEVE IN AMERICA. INVEST IN AMERICA.

On that day I said, "The Dow is just under 8,000.. In a year or so, it will go past 10,000."

Truth is, we are approaching 11,000.

Believe in America.

Shannon travels to NY to join the KISS tour and spend quality time with Gene only to learn he has a prior commitment with a journalist. Gene sticks Shannon with his friend and native New Yorker, Tony, to ensure she doesn't take out her anger on his wallet. While Gene and the journalist take us through a never-before-seen tour of Gene's past (including the Jr. High stage where he performed for the first time,) Shannon saves the day when Tony loses his wife's anniversary present.

Shannon is convinced Gene's pleas to not celebrate his 60th birthday are just cries for attention, so she and Paul Stanley plan a huge bash - which Gene almost misses when he decides to travel for business on his big day. The episode marks the first time all of KISS appear on the show... and even bowl!

Legendary rock god and multi-hyphenate Gene Simmons returns with his unconventional family for an all-new season of A&E's hit unscripted series Gene Simmons Family Jewels on March 21. The season begins with a terrifying moment for America's most traditional, non-traditional family. Shannon has a health scare that makes the family rally and Gene is caught between two worlds--being there for the mother of his two children and being on tour with KISS.

My wife Beth and I are friends with Comedian Kathleen Madigan. Kathleen sent us this picture of her in the Greenroom for the taping of The Joy Behar Show today in New York. Thought Gene and Shannon would enjoy the picture.

It's unrealistic -- if not downright impossible -- to watch everything that premieres on TV.

So I've only seen bits and pieces of "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" over the years and didn't have any preconceived opinions of the A&E series -- which premiered in 2006 and celebrates its 100th episode this season as TV's longest-running family reality show (overtaking MTV's "The Osbournes" for that niche honor).

What I did see, in watching tomorrow night's fifth-season premiere, is a show meshing the requisite reality elements -- including facing-the-camera "confessionals," underscored here with weirdly "Leave It to Beaver"-type music -- with some genuine emotion.

It's obvious that KISS frontman Gene Simmons, despite all his public bravado and bluster (overbearing at times), loves his longtime partner, former Playboy centerfold/actress Shannon Tweed, and their kids -- Nick, 21 and Sophie, 17. And it's obvious those feelings are mutual.

I think that explains some of this show's appeal, and why it's had such a long shelf life ("Family Jewels" has averaged roughly 2 million viewers each season).

Gene Simmons stopped by 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon', and we learned way more about his freakishly long tongue than we really need to know. For example, it took him a while to figure out what to do with it. Also, it gets musty in there, so he has to air it out. Did we really need to see it, though, Gene? Really? It just confirms what we've known all along – that you're descended from lizards.

Has Gene Simmons broken the reality TV curse?

The Kiss rocker's A&E series, "Gene Simmons Family Jewels," is quickly approaching its 100th episode, and his relationship with girlfriend Shannon Tweed is still intact, his kids Nick and Sophie are behaving themselves, and the media hasn't unearthed some dark family secret that's been hidden for years.

With a history littered with Jessica Simpsons and Nick Lacheys, Hogans and Gosselins, having a clan survive life in front of the camera is a feat worth celebrating.

"Those families were destined to be torn apart. Television cameras just happened to catch it," Simmons told the News. "My life is an open book. What you see is what you get, and I don't care."

"Gene Simmons Family Jewels" returns for a fifth season this Sunday at 9 p.m. on A&E with a special one-hour episode that focuses on Tweed and a personal health scare. When she finds a lump in her breast, the family rallies around her to get through a difficult time.

Simmons and Tweed also will appear on "The Doctors" today at 9 a.m. on WCBS Ch. 2 to discuss the matter.

"You men out there, you have to talk and make sure your loved one goes today, not tomorrow, to see wonderful doctors who are there to save lives," says Simmons in the segment.

The fifth season of "Family Jewels" is not only a milestone for the series, but a landmark in several of the family members' lives. Gene turns 60, Nick turns 21 and graduates from college, and Sophie graduates from high school - all of which are caught on tape.

On Wednesday, March 17, Rock star Gene Simmons & his girlfriend Shannon Tweed, stars of A&E’s Gene Simmons Family Jewels, appear on the Emmy-nominated daytime talk show THE DOCTORS and open up about Shannon’s recent breast cancer scare that began with one seemingly trivial symptom. Revealing shocking statistics about the disease, Simmons states that 1 out of 8 women will get breast cancer, and makes an emotional plea urging men everywhere to make sure their loved ones get tested immediately upon showing any symptoms.

The fifth season of Gene Simmons Family Jewels will premiere March 21st at 9pm ET/PT on A&E. They will be airing a special one-hour episode. For those unfamiliar with this particular reality TV show let me assure you, it is worth tuning in to.

Gene Simmons of mega Rock group Kiss and the 10 foot tongue seen round the world, stars with his less then conventional family. While Kiss continues to tour, real life at home carries on. His long term relationship (23 years) with former Playboy playmate Shannon Tweed, and his two children with her — Nick soon to be 21, and Sophie turning 17 — make up the jewels of this family.

They are warm, funny, close knit, and the blending of the two worlds makes this docu-drama sort of oddly and embarrassingly addicting. Not quite as embarrassing as Gene's really bad, thinning, shoe polish black hair that he refuses to cut into a normal style, but embarrassing none-the-less.

Watching Gene and Shannon undergo facelifts last season and his obsession with his 'schmeckle' (penis) were to say the least amusing. As big of a demon rock star he is, Shannon is very much the boss at home.

Gene's ridiculous over-protectiveness with his daughter (to the point of stalking) stems, I am sure, from his years on the road and his admitted promiscuity. He is well aware of what boys want.

There is a lot of good-natured ribbing of Gene from Shannon, Sophie and Nick who love to point out his workaholic, ego-maniacal ways. Despite all of that, he is a likable (without the demon make-up) man. All in all, glad to see A&E bringing them back for more.

Sunday March 21st 9pm, be there, or Gene will lick you with that unnaturally long ten foot tongue, yuck!

Sixteen months after announcing the reformation of Simmons Records in partnership with Universal Music Canada, Kiss bassist Gene Simmons has finally inked a deal, signing Toronto rock band The Envy.

The signing is a joint venture with Montreal-based Remedy Music, a division of Crystal Math Management, the company that has the likes of Metric and The Midway State on its roster.

“We have embarked upon fulfilling our mandate—to discover new and exciting Canadian talent and to take them around the world,” Simmons said in a statement.

The Envy, who formed in early 2009, are presently recording with JUNO award-winning producer Gavin Brown (Billy Talent, Metric, Three Days Grace) as well as the songwriter/producer Desmond Child (Katy Perry, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Tokio Hotel) for their Simmons/UMC debut release. No release date was announced. Last year, the band toured across Canada with the likes of Marianas Trench, The Midway State and Stereos.

We've been busy.

Lots of activity on a few fronts.

KISS is in Europe (Germany and England) doing promo and media for the upcoming KISS Euro-Tour -- a tour that will encompass almost 2 years by the time we're done. Covering Europe (twice), Canada (twice), America, South America.... arenas, stadiums and lots of happy faces.

We wouldn't have it any other way.

Rich Abramson, (my partner in Simmons Abramson, our marketing firm) and I are closing in on an entertainment company play. It involves a big picture, and we are scaling the heights one step at a time. Cannot be more specific at this time, since negotiations are underway. But, when we can announce it, we will.

Rich and I are partners in a new venture that promises to change the financial face of one of the most important aspects of people's lives. We are soon going to be announcing the venture on television, and in the business press.

And, GENE SIMMONS FAMILY JEWELS Season V is winding up shooting our new season -- 19 or 20 new episodes. We will be going to NY to promo our new season -- TODAY SHOW, JOY BEHAR SHOW (CNN Headline News), JIMMY FALLON and others in a few days.
