   4/30/2009

This Saturday, May 2nd at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles, California, Nick Simmons, son of Gene Simmons and star of Gene Simmons Family Jewels, will be signing the Radical Publishing book Radical 2009, which showcases his upcoming title, Incarnate, for Free Comic Book Day, the annual event on the first Saturday in May that has participating comic book shops around the world giving away comic books absolutely FREE to anyone that comes into their stores.

Nick Simmons will be signing from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. and A&E will be on hand to film the signing for an upcoming episode of Gene Simmons Family Jewels.

In addition, as announced by Gene and Nick Simmons on Los Angeles radio station 95.5 KLOS’s The Mark and Brian Show, 5 lucky winners who come to Meltdown on May 2nd from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. and sign up for the Radical Newsletter will receive a pair of RSVPs for the upcoming Radical Event at the Hard Rock taking place during San Diego Comic-Con International, July 23rd-26th. The Radical event will feature Gene Simmons and very special guests onstage performing KISS music followed by a landmark jam session.

Incarnate #1 from creator, writer and artist Nick Simmons will debut in July 2009 at San Diego Comic-Con International. See below for a synopsis of the story and be sure to come by Meltdown Comics this Saturday for Free Comic Book Day.

Mot is a boy who cannot die.

Riddle him with bullets, burn him at the stake, douse him with napalm, hang him from the gallows…still, he will walk away.

Forever haunted by a mysterious doppelganger that no one else can see, Mot has wandered the world for centuries, searching for meaning and, perhaps, an end to his endless life.

He is a Revenant— an immortal, ageless creature that has existed since time immemorial. Their origins are a mystery—they have been worshipped as gods, feared as monsters, and scorned as devils. But they have always been there, living in plain sight, in the bright altars and dark corners of every ancient civilization since the beginning of humanity. There has never been a force on this earth that has been able to give them the death that Mot, secretly, seeks.
  Until now.

Now, something is different. Now they are being hunted.

A shadow organization, known only as Sanctum, has discovered a way to kill the Revenants, and is carrying out a secret genocide that spans the globe. Mot, his protégé Connor, and the rest of the Revenants now must decide how to ensure their place at the top of the food chain.

Mot finds himself smack in the middle of an escalating war between mortals and immortals, neither of which he identifies with. Will he choose a side? Or will he be labeled a traitor, and be hunted down not only by humans, but also by creatures as invulnerable and merciless as he is?

Nick Simmons’ breakout American Manga title reveals a world that challenges even the imagination, planting its tongue firmly in cheek, then biting it off...And swallowing it.

GENE!!

I was watching the show called "Bones". It's pretty much on the lines with all the CSI type shows. Anyways, the whole show was trying to find out who killed a metal band member. All these bands have makeup and such. I knew once I saw all this makeup that they had to say something about KISS. Well of course they did. The singer did the fire spitting and one of the guys said, "Who's he trying to be? One of the singers for KISS?" Ah, gotta love it. KISS is and always will be everywhere!!

Meltdown Comics
  7522 W Sunset Blvd
  Los Angeles, CA

INCARNATE:

From Nick Simmons, son of rock legend Gene Simmons and star of A&E’s GENE SIMMONS FAMILY JEWELS, comes a revolutionary new take on the undead.

GENE SIMMONS IN LAS VEGAS

Yesterday, we flew in to LAS VEGAS for business, not pleasure.

What I CAN say, is that the meetings were on the highest level and included the power movers and shakers of the town.

The decision makers were in the room and what I CAN say is that we talked seriously about a long range venture that would entail an area we've never been involved in before.

I would love to be able to tell you what the venture is, but can't just yet. LUXOR President Felix Rappaport (pictured) was a gracious host who feted our group and even had his chef make a gorgeous (and huge) cake, featuring my powerful and attractive image on the cake (all edible!!!). We thank you.

Despite the fact that Felix is pictured here, if your guess is our venture might have something to do with the wonderful Luxor hotel...it does not.

That's all I can say about the new venture right now.

Radical Comics publisher Barry Levine is going to be the publisher for NICK SIMMONS' graphic novel (which Nick wrote and drew himself!!!), INCARNATE. The graphic novel will be in comic and book stores in August. It's 44 pages long.

Radical will be hosting a huge party at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego at COMICON (July 23rd - 25th). the party will be in honor of Nick's INCARNATE (!!!). Movie celebs, writers, directors and producers are attending. And, so are myself, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer. We intend n getting up on stage and jamming, along with special guests.

Our GENE SIMMONS FAMILY JEWELS will also be filming the event for Season V. The new 20 episode Season IV debuts in June. Watch for it.

Barry Levine, as it turns out, has a long history with KISS. Barry was the iconic photographer who immortalized the classic "Spirit of '76" foto (us with the flag) and the Empire State Building foto. Barry is now head of his own multi-hyphenate entertainment company -- Radical will have its own Vegas showroom for its artwork. And, Radical is well on its way to producing its own line of MOVIES -- with titles like HERCULES and ALADDIN...and others, featuring Hollywood's top writers and directors.

GENE SIMMONS' SON LAUNCHES COMIC BOOK CAREER

contactmusic.com
4/09/2009

GENE SIMMONS' son NICK is launching his career as a cartoonist at this year's (09) comic book mecca Comic Con.

The 20-year-old - who stars alongside his family in reality TV show "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" - will unveil his creation "Incarnate" at the San Diego, California event.

Simmons tells Brazilian newspaper Comércio do Jahu, "Nick is a cartoonist. He writes and draws 'Incarnate', which will be launched in Comic Con San Diego."

The KISS rocker is thrilled with his offspring's career choice - because he's a huge graphic novel fan himself.

Comic book icon Stan Lee recently revealed how the star once harrassed him on a flight for insider gossip: "I once sat next to Gene on an airplane. (He's a) huge comic-book fan, apparently. He starts quizzing me: 'You know, Stan, that Iron Man issue you wrote, number 23, on page 10 in panel 3, where...' And I say, 'Slow down, mister. I can't even remember where this plane is going.'"

Meanwhile, Simmons hasn't given up hope Nick and his daughter Sophie will one day join him onstage.

He adds, "Nick and Sophie are studying piano and guitar. I told them that if they learned to read music, they'll be able to make music with confidence."

Hello Mr. Simmons,

My name is Shawn Shoptaugh and I have to say I respect you.  You take crap from nobody and you know how to deal with people.  I really admire your conservative social views. I myself am a fellow conservative and very into politics. Who would've thought huh, a seventeen year old into political interests.  Anyway, you are a huge inspiration to me Mr. Simmons.  I am truely happy that there are some celebrities that actually care about our nation and our armed forces.  I only wish that if and when I make it big in music, that I have the respect you have for saying what's right. By the way, I am in need of assisstance.  You see, I'm looking to start a band, but I don't know how or where I should start looking.  If you could give me some advice, I would be most appriciative.

Thank you,

Shawn Shoptaugh

Response from Gene:

I appreciate your kind words. But, I'm not a conservative. Nor am I a liberal. I'm like most Americans. We vote on the issue, not the political party. Which is why Americans sometimes vote as a Republican, and sometimes vote as a Democrat.  I am socially liberal (women's rights, gay rights, seperation of church and state and so on)...but fiscally conservative (do not believe in a welfare state...prefer to create jobs, not hand out checks...believe in the death penalty...do not believe in the gov't's plan to bail out banks)...but most importantly, it's too easy to paint with a wide brush stroke.  Mostly, people believe only Republican Conservatives are big supporters of our proud men and women of the Military. And, that's not entirely true.  Remember, both democrats and republicans serve in the Armed Forces.

As for me, whenever I see Old Glory in front of a school, a church or going by waving in a car...I look. I give it my respect...I arch my back, and I am aware what the flag means and how it has given me everything. I will forever love our flag.
