C'mon...I'm not on crack? You just don't want to budge a little. Am I on crack, because the THEORY of evolution has not been proven? Hey...if you believe in evolution, you're believing in it is based on FAITH. Evolution cannot be proven, just as creation cannot be proven, and the belief in either IS based in faith. Period. Incidentally, the theory of evolution is to Secular Humanism what creation is to Christianity. Now if the Supreme Court has deemed Secular Humanism a religion, the same as Christianity, Buddhism, Taoism, etc...then how is it the theory of evolution can be taught in schools as a FAITH based theory, when there is just as much science that theorizes the world is only 10,000 years old? Like I said before.....don't get me wrong. I'm not some religious guy trying to save your soul, or any of that mess, but I was a little disappointed that a man as intelligent as you could believe in ONE scientific theory, or believe in a THEORY, period.
Then again, maybe I've wasted time with this letter, and you think I am on crack because, if reincarnation is possible, I'd like to come back as your business partner. If that's the case....you're right. I'll come back as your BOSS!
HA!
I Love YOU!
Your friend,
David Roberts
P.S. With all due respect, you're a nut.
Response from Gene:
I strongly urge you to go to the library or to school. Everything that exists emits radioactivity... there is also the Carbon 14 dating method. In other words, science has figured out a way to tell us how old something is, whether it's dinosaur poop, or the earth itself... simply by reading what the "machines" tell us.
The Bible is the most important book of all time. But it's not science. The very notion of God is (so far) unprovable. So everything inside the Five Books of Moses and the New Testament is FAITH... not theory.

Kiss is the subject of this week's "statshot": "What is Kiss licensing?".
Kind of funny.

Hey Gene,
My friends and I are starting a kind of KISS tribute band. We've done one little show (just 3 songs) for an elementary school, and since none of us are musically-inclined enough to play as good as KISS, we just lip-synched and faked playing the songs. Now they want us to come back next year for a little show. This last one all came together pretty suddenly, so we didn't do a very good job on getting the costumes. I was just wondering what era your favorite costume was from? I personally like the Destroyer suit, but that would be pretty hard for us to make, and the Love Gun outfits are the only ones we can find to buy.
I was also wondering if you'd ever thought about making a book of bass tabs to some of KISS's best songs, or possibly even a tutorial book or video of you teaching how to play bass. This would be a tremendous help to me, being a beginner bassist and huge fan of yours and of KISS. I'd love to be able to get on stage and actually play the songs.
Thanks a lot Gene, and keep KISS ALIVE!!!
Ryan

Gene:
My name is Jack Honey and I'm a 37 year old citrus farmer from north Florida. My favorite bands are Alice Cooper and Thin Lizzy. My wife Clara is 29 and has been going through some tough times at work and home, but she's always told me how she loves Kiss. Last week was our six year anniversary and I'd been secretly downloading Kiss tracks while she thought I was sleeping and was able to collect nearly one hundred and fifty tracks. On the big day I took my wife out to a five star restaurant in Jacksonville, then for a romantic horse pulled carriage ride, and then we came back home. She thought the evening was over, but she was in total shock when I gave her unofficial Kiss boxed set.
My friend Haus lent me a disc decorating program and I made some great artwork on the eight cds and their jewel cases, and had made the perfect present. Clara was so happy to have the compilation that she plays it at home, in the car, and at her office. I wanted to thank KISS and Morpheus for helping me make our sixth wedding anniversary so wonderful. Both me and Clara can't wait for KISS to come to town. Normally we go to punk shows that run us like $4-9 a ticket, but we've decided to spend as much as thirty bucks PER ticket, even if its an entire hour's work, for the greatest band in the world: KISS!
Your Faithful Fan,
Jack & Clara Honey

to Gene,
I have just finished reading your book and it is the worst read i have had in a long time, if not ever. All u did the whole book was big note yourself and talk about how u did everything and good u r compared to everyone else in the world. I was bitterly dissappionted that i spent $33 on it. I would aso like to hear ace and peter's point of view on most of your stories. may it was u who was the pain in the arse. I can imagine that ace's constant drinking and drug taking would become annoying but u guys are a band who should be more worried about getting along than making money. Money isn't everything even in music. I know alot of bands who know they'll never get anywhere but they still play for the love of music and for entertaining people.

Luke, please go get me some coffee.
Dear Gene...
I appreciate your opinion. I have been an admirer for years. I have met you several times (hung around you on Tours back in the 80's &1990) travelling around following KISS.. I know you can be a real sweetheart and at times a pain in the ass. I like that you look at the facts and most of all you tell the truth the way that you see it. Your a practical man looking for tangiable results. You try to live life to the fullest, doing all the things that your heart desires. I have found that very inspirational over the years. You are not afraid to give your opinion on issues that society find sacred (such as marriage).
But Gene, sweety you are extremely close minded. I understand that you need to have everything proven by scientist before you will believe it. I get that.. but do you really need an expert to tell you what is true. Scientist are usually quite a close minded lot also. If they can't prove it they say it isen't real. I think that is based on ego more than facts. They have an arrogance about NOT being wrong. There are many different theories that scientists won't even approach. I believe a scientist should test "every theory" not choose which ones "they" feel should be blessed with there investigation. There are also many theories, they set out to disprove. They run some half assed tests, that are bound to fail and then call it a day.
Do you not have your own inner voice? Do you not trust it? Do you need to be told what is real or not? Do you ever get gut feelings about things? I have worked and studied in many of the realms that most scientists fear to tread. I can tell you in my own research, some theories are bunk and others "just work".. I don't know exactly how.. but they do.
I am a Certified Astrologer. Four years of schoolling, and full day exams...(yes, 8 hour written exams)... Astrology is as ancient as religion. I am talking about psychological, spiritual, emotional, and physical assessment of a human being. I am just an interpreter of ancient symbols, a translator if you will. I translate what the ancient symbols say about you. Prediction work with Astrology is more like watching trends with the stock market. We watch the trends. (what happened in your life the last time this planetary hit happened) it is more than likely to happen again... when the same planetary pattern comes back around.. Thats all ...There is no magic... just research and study. It is quite mathematical actually. Astrology is misunderstood completely. I don't preach to the unconvinced however, those who are curious or believe the theory come to me. I do not seek them out. You have 5 planets in Virgo Gene. Virgo is the skeptic of the Zodiac, so I do understand where you are coming from but I think that you are missing out on the richness, and vastness of the universe keeping your mind and heart as closed and protected as you do. I know that you are a man that likes to live life to the fullest but your mental judgements and critisizms are limiting your world. You deal only in the material and mental planes. How about the emotional, and the spiritual? Do you ignore these on purpose? or unconsciously? I am not critisizing you. I am just trying to broaden your perspective.
take care, Lori from Toronto
Response from Gene:
With all due respect..what a load of crap. How shall I put this: Zoroaster from whence Zoroastrianism came, may have designed the original Astrological map and ideas. As I understand them: the planets and their positions in the sky determine all sorts of things about us.
Now, let's for a moment suppose it was true. Zoroaster lived thousands of years ago. If he designed an astrological solar map that dictated your traits, then at the very least, THEY ARE NO LONGER TRUE. Simply because (the ever expanding universe), the planets are no longer where they were thousands of years ago.
Here's another hint: Open your newspaper. Go past the cover (international news). Go past National news. Go past local news. Go past business news. Go past sports. Go past entertainment. Stop right around the area where they have comic strips and crossword puzzles.
Tell me what you see.
Hi Gene,
I have to chuckle just a little at how the Gene Simmons Letters page has become a posting board for opionions about all the, ahem, major issues of life. The crowning achievement is your position of being able to state (in bold red letters) who is factually on crack and who is not. (Deep argument by the way.)
I remember ten years ago when you would state that rock stars are idiots for putting themselves out there as social commentators and political influencers. Now, here's Gene positioning himself as the ongoing author of high opinion on evolution, religion, morals, and a Palestinian state.
I guess if I remember to read all these posts with a tongue-in-cheek, it'll still make sense somehow.
John
Response from Gene:
When will you learn I know everything there is to know about everything there ever was. Look into my eyes. You are in my power.
Gene,
In response to your response,
You are incorrect. Especially as a teacher, you fully know the difference between Evolution (science) and Creationism (faith). It's ok to teach creationism in a review of "religious thought"... not as Scientific Theory. You should know better.
I DO know the difference between science and faith. I did NOT say that I teach creationism as scientific theory! I made it very clear that I mention unproven ideas as SPECULATION. I'm only saying that we should educate kids about what it true, and about the other ideas out there. I wouldn't want my child to grow up and have no clue about what people are discussing when an idea such as this comes up. In the few times I've ever mentioned creationism, I've clearly stated that it is a theory based on faith, and that one must believe the Bible to believe that theory.... and not everyone believes the Bible. I thought I made that very clear. Thanks for your thoughts

Response from Gene:
Still incorrect. Faith goes way beyond theory. Look up the definition. You cannot teach Creationism as Theory. It veers too closely to science. The Bible or any other holy book is meant to be faith... not theory. The only way to prove it is to have God appear and say "Ok, you knuckleheads. Here I am." You are still incorrect and you should still know better... especially being a teacher.
Hi Gene!
This is in response to the letter from Carmen. I agree with her completely with a little to add. I've also been a fan for almost 30 years, grew up Catholic, etc. My wife is a converted KISS fan since I took her to a reunion concert and now she finds other bands and entertainers utterly boring. Music is like life and religion...you get out of it what you want to put into it. Your music has continously gotten me through tough times over the years. Not necessarily by the lyrics or anything except to say it was consistent and always available. A familiar voice, if you will. What it did for me was teach me that no matter how bad you got it, life is here to enjoy. To paraphrase you from one of your video's Gene..."Life isn't terrible, Life is good." Heck, you can find Satan in a box of Pop-Tarts, if you look hard enough. I have a great wife, 2 great kids, a great job, and listen to the best band in the history of Rock-n-Roll. I have to say, what's not to love?
Thanks for getting me through the tough times, Gene.
