Gene,

Somewhere I've made you think I am coming from a Christian standpoint. I'm not. All I'm saying is that the Theory of Evolution goes completely against the Second law of thermodynamics. It also goes against any mathematical equation for calculating time. Hey, I'm not the scientist, the mathematician or God. Don't blame me.

Carbon 14 Dating is also not foolproof. Any scientist will tell you that. There are also NO traces of any evolutionary development of humans, anywhere. No fossils. Nothing. I just don't want some knucklehead teacher teaching my kid the Theory of Evolution as fact just because he or she has a beef with God, a God, or any Gods. See.
I STILL love you.

Your friend,
David Roberts

Response from Gene:

What planet did you come from?
Austrolopithecus Africanus, later known as Austrolopithecus Aferensis, discovered by Donald Johanson in 1974 at Hadar in Ethiopia was referred to as "Lucy." She was a biped. She lived 3,200,000 years ago. That's what science tells us.
If you dispute the above, I will understand "where you are coming from"... to use the common patois.

Last night we took our buddy to a strip club for his bachelor party. They all wore their cowboy hats and boots, but I stood out wearing a stylish KISS silk button up. The guy at the table next to us turned out to be a fellow KISS fan as well.

Since I was the DD (someone's gotta do it), my buddies treated me to a lap dance. After the dance (which wasn't half bad, but I can get better at home for free), the girl told me that "it's a general consensous from everyone working here that THAT shirt fucking ROCKS!"

After I walked past the DJ booth, they played "Detroit Rock City" (incredible to see the bombshells on stage dance and sing along to it). On the way out, some of the girls kept commenting on my shirt as well.

Shows that wherever you go, KISS has left a legacy.

Mike

Response from Gene:

Hey... that was my sister!!!

Alright, Gene, I can't resist one last poke. ;)

With respect to the debate on the teaching/validity of evolution, bravo to you for alluding to the fact that creationism serves as philosophical groundwork for those of faith and/or religion. As such, creationism is de facto theological in nature, not theoretical (i.e., misconception #1).

What I find amazing is that NONE of the undoubtedly well-educated fans who posted on said subject seemed to understand the basic function and substance of theories in general--particularly scientific theories. D.E., a teacher from Georgia, for instance, was compelled to mention that neither creationism nor evolution had been "proven." That point is moot, as it demonstrates another common misconception: That theories--scientific ideas, facts, hypotheses, whatever--are concepts that must be proven to be found truthful. Wrong. Didn't we all get this in eighth-grade physical science?

Those of us who are scientists know that the world doesn't spin that way. We never "prove" anything scientifically, nor do we need to. We cannot ever "prove" an idea (or, to use the current term, a theory) in the "100%, all the time, forever and ever, amen" manner that everyone seems to desire and consider possible. (The rationale for that fact is far beyond the scope of this message board, of course.) Rather, in science, we "disprove" or refute. What that means is that we only hold an idea up as reputable--truthful or valid, if you will--if there is overwhelming (e.g., statistically significant) evidence to refute the idea's alternative (i.e., that the idea is bona fide poo poo). This approach is what separates science from supposition. It's what allows us to measure the confidence we should have that the drug meant to treat your raging VD will do what it's supposed to do and not kill you...or make you grow a third arm.

In short, science isn't warm and fuzzy. It isn't always as simple as our "common-sense" views of the world. It doesn't always feel right. It isn't always intuitive. Further, "evolution/ism" represents a broad scientific paradigm--not a singular idea of where we came from. And, yes, there is substantial evidence to support that paradigm. (It is a paradigm, after all.) Science is a logical approach to viewing, understanding, describing, and--yes--explaining the world.

Perhaps debate on this subject would be more useful if people would put on their science hats and take off their feeling hats before jumping in?

Luv ya, dahling.

Dear Gene,

The whole 'Evolution' vs. 'Creationism' debate is so painfully ridiculous and you'd think we'd be past this by now-but we're not!

Creationism should NOT be taught as another 'theory'! Period! Genesis and other creation 'myths' are not scientific theories! Not in the modern understanding of 'science'! Religion deals with a different deck of cards. Creation myths employ 'metaphors' and merely seek to convey in a 'spiritual' sense the vast mysteries of creation and life in general. That's all. It's not the purpose of the Bible nor other sacred texts to provide viable scientific explanations of the 'origin of species'. And those who think that it is the case that these 'narratives' are meant to be taken 'literally' do not understand even their own religious heritage. Spirituality like 'art' relies on 'imagery' and even 'poetic license' and a rigid 'literalist' approach to ANY form of religious mythology actually robs 'authentic' spirituality of it's true purpose. And...it should be said that this tendency is very much a product of the 'Western Christian' culture that does not exist in other cultures and other religious traditions. There are, to be sure, citizens of other religious traditions who have no problem whatsoever seeing 'myth' on one hand and 'scientific' knowledge on the other. They know that each has it's own purpose in a well balanced approach to life. Finally...approaching spirituality in a 'literalist' mind set actually kills the 'spiritual' life. And there is a rich history of mystics from all traditions who would attest to this!

So, those who are trying once again to teach 'creationism' in the same manner as they would teach 'evolution' (which doesn't stop with Darwin by the way) are doing both realms -science and religion-a significant disservice. And, furthermore, those who think that by ignoring what we have come to know from the realm of science is somehow honorable and in 'defense' of God need to really think about what they are in fact saying about this 'God'! Seems to me- that God is no 'god' at all! That 'God' is rather very small and rather fickle! So....think about it!

will you ever write a book on using and saving money? you are a well educated and straight foward individual and i like that. no bullshit with you. another question? in what type of spiritual stuff do you believe in? i love to read spiritual books and i was wondering what you would recommend. thanks
a fan forever.
trinity pallanes

Response from Gene:

Stop reading spiritual books for a while. Try the New York Times. Daily.

Hi

my name is Shandi and I was wondering is it true that gene was hitting on all 3 members of destineys child??
thank you
sincerly shandi

Response from Gene:

Sure.

hello gene,

is it really you that answers these letters. if it is id just liketo tell you you have a very hot wife.

laterz,

DEREK

Response from Gene:

Yes. It's me.
Sorry, not familiar with the phrase "wife"...

Gene

Since your use of the word Foto has caused a minor controversy, I was wondering what your opinion of "Ebonics" is. Since you occasionally throw out the fact you don't say Wassupp, this in effect is the same principle, even if the "common use" comes from a different culture/race.

Wes

Response from Gene:

The masses decide most things. If everyone starts saying "wassup" I may hold out to the end, but if it becomes "common usage" I will start saying it.
Common usage would have to mean that CEO's of companies will start using the phrase. When they do, I will.

gene simmons,

my kids are the same age as yours. i think? all girls though, twins stefani and veronica 12yrs, and maddie 9yrs old. they are big fans of kiss and your shows on extra tv. my girls have a crush on your son. they thought your daughter looked good with your makeup. of course she had a good teacher. i have been a kissaholic since 1975 from the age of 11yrs old.

i personaly think your partner shannon tweed looks like one of the Love Gun girls on the album cover. i did a review on detroit rock city by my login name tscohn on kissonline. thanks for posting it.

here are my questions for you gene:

1. do you have a strictly business relationship with paul. i know he is a private person. would you consider your relationship with paul as best friends regardless of differences in values, kiss issues?

2. i am very sick of the negative feedback from the same people complaining to you and paul about kiss issues and how things should be done such as touring, appearances etc... how do you and paul make decisions; as leaders of your kingdom or followers of your tribe?

3. if you were given a chance to go into space on the shuttle and give a concert. nasa could only budget for enough time for kiss to play 6 songs, what would you play and why? who would you want to be in the line-up. be bold, mean what you say, say what you mean gene?

4. have you ever thought of publishing a book with your exotic pictures?

5. do you still ask the waiters if they have any cookies when you are out to dinner? do they still dart down the street and go to the nearest bakery and buy gourmet cookies and put them on a plate within minutes. i witnessed this in houston at the hrc. my kids used to call you monster guy when they were young, i think the nickname cookie monster fits.

6. ok gene here is the final question. besides your work and kiss, what do you enjoy doing on your time off. we know you get the evenings with your shannon love gun chick babeliscious. that doesnt count. what do you enjoy doing, travel, music, movies, concerts, kids, family, reading, etc..

thank you gene and kiss, the world is a better place with kiss in it. sincerely, terry cohn

Response from Gene:

For the record, Shannon Tweed is her own person. She doesn't need me or any man to define who she is. She is not "my girl" as in "my car, my house.. etc" and finally, she is not my partner. Don't want partners. She is her own person.

Dear Gene,

Ok, I was surfing the web, when I came upon the site for the AFA, ever hear of them? Man these guys are crazy! For example, They are bitching Ford and are gettting people to write Ford motor company saying that, well, Ford supports the show Will & Grace, which has homosexual subjects on it, and they are bitching at Ford to not support it because they are supporting a show that supports homosexuality, which is not good for our new generation because it's proven to lead to early death, depression, personnal anguish, and so on, so on, like i'm a strait man, but c'mon, everyone fucking knows that's bullshit. They have a whole bunch of stuff like that, mainly all following the bible to the letter. I was wondering, these guys are based in Tupelo (of all places) and you mentionned that in the Second Coming video,t hat during the Reunion tour, when you guys played there, that there was these activists trying to stop you guys from playing there because of your satanic issues and so on, I was wondering, was it the A.F.A.?

Sincerely,

Tyler MacIver

P.S. YOU RULE MAN! I have your book coming in soon and I am eager to read it! ROCK ON!!

Response from Gene:

Maybe.
