Hello Gene,
I'm the guy who bought your coffee and scone at Starbuck's today at NAMM.
I did that just because it was a quick way I could say 'thank you'.
I am the Director of Creative Arts for Saddleback Church (our pastor, Rick Warren, is the author of "The Purpose Driven Life" and is giving the invocation at Obama's inauguration next week, amidst much controversy).
Before that, Ispent most of my career as a jazz trumpet player. I had a bit of success in the late 80's & early 90's on jazz radio, and have currently re-entered the arena with a new disc that is getting strong airplay around the country. Much of the intervening years have also been spent producing records for a variety of artists (including work with your old friend Lanny Cordola from House Of Lords).
I tell you all that so you can know that, although I have pursued a different route than you musically (jazz instead of rock), and, as you can imagine given my conservative Christian worldview, we probably wouldn't see eye to eye on a lot of issues, you were such a huge part of my youth and of my desire to pursue music.
I became a fan in 1976 after the Paul Lynde show, was at the Forum for "Alive II" and was as excited as anyone with the reuniting of the original members in the 90s. I spent countless hours as a kid playing air-drums in my bedroom to your records, staring at posters on my wall, and dressing as you guys for Halloween. My first band in Jr High played mostly KISS tunes. Even today, my recording studio has a little Gene Simmons doll sitting next to the monitor.
I'm sure you hear that stuff all the time, but I still wanted to say thanks.
So, again, thank you - for the early inspiration and for your continually deep care for your fans. Hope you enjoyed your coffee and scone!

Response from Gene:
Thank you for the Coffee. Tasted good.
Gene,
I heard a part of an interview on the radio yesterday. In it you had words of encouragement and a positive message about getting successful. I wish I had recorded it, it was inspiring. Could you give us some advise on succeeding in life. You are an inspiration to me. Thank you, Todd
Response from Gene:
You don't need advice. Everyone knows the same thing. Work hard. Save. Invest. Diversify. If you're a man, don't get married until and if you can afford divorce costs (50% of everything you have -- before you pay tax...therefore, your gross dollars)....that's life. If you're a woman, get married as soon as you can (for the opposite reason a man should not --- i.e. he has to pay YOU)....
That's it.
Response from Gene:
Close. But no guitars. The real story is, when KISS got back from Japan, I couldn't sleep and wrote Christine Sixteen in my sleep. I called Eddie and Alex Van Halen and asked em to help me cut three songs at Larabee Sound in LA. We cut Christine, Got Love For Sale and Tunnel of Love. The solo you're talking about WAS played by Eddie...note for note, but ONLY ON THE DEMO. The KISS version has Ace playing those notes.
Hi Gene:
Any chance we will hear these demos anytime soon?
Dave
Response from Gene:
Yes.
hey Gene
i thought i'd send this in regard to those religous nuts that give you a hard time regarding the I LOVE YOU SIGN and it being santanic
Response from Gene:
It does indeed, say I LOVE YOU in sign language.
(The hand gesture, that is).

why are you so arrogant?
steve
Response from Gene:
Because it makes small people like you cringe.
I know Gene is a busy man so I will get straight to the point. I have an idea for a product for the Wii video system that is not on the market in any way, shape, or form. I believe the people of Nintendo would love the idea because it could be marketed in many ways and for all age groups. I know Gene has a history of getting patents on many different items. I was hoping with his background in the industry and this idea, somehow the whole process could be sped up. I'm sure that I'm not the only person to think of this, however being the first to market it would be a very beneficial endeavor. I look forward to further communication in the future.
Sincerely
Greg Larocque
Response from Gene:
Actually, being the first in the market place doesn't often mean much. It's like explorers in the wilderness. The first one who goes through "the jungle" has to fight all sorts of hardships...nature, no roads, no infrastructure and so on. Later on, there are roads, infrastructure and people. I'd rather come in AFTER there is a market. In either case, what else besides "the idea" can you offer. Because, you know if you've been reading our letters pages that ideas mean nothing.
Hello,
I'm a huge Kiss fan with a question about Gene's awesome reality show.
How come Paul Stanley has never appeared, even in episodes where it would have been obvious for him to do so (such as the one in which Kiss is set to go on MTV in makeup, and Gene's late because of the lost Demon costume)? I would imagine Paul is still a huge part of Gene's life and a good friend, and it's weird that the other members of the band have been on the show several times, but never Paul.
I figured I'd ask genesimmons.com and hopefully get the straight story instead of trying to scour the Internet and end up with a bunch of bunk.
Thank you for your help.

Response from Gene:
Because Paul doesn't want to.
