Gene KISSes babies and hugs moms

KISS tongue-man Gene Simmons' book signing was completely different from what you might think.

Yes, lots of people showed up at Borders on West End Avenue. In fact, more than 800 came for autographs of his book, Sex Money Kiss, and all sorts of other things, including dolls, lunchboxes and children's pajamas. In fact, 800 is nearly double the number of folks at Gene's signings in other cities. It may be the highest number of folks to ever come out for a single book signing in Nashville.

There was no loud music, no profanity, no exposed mommy parts, no lewd, crude or rude behavior of any kind.

Gene was downright charming. He kissed babies, he talked to autograph seekers' friends on their cell phones, he laughed, he joked, he wordlessly held one woman for two minutes while she sobbed uncontrollably.

In fact, the only thing folks were supposed to get autographed was his book, but Gene got on live TV at 10 Tuesday night and told folks he'd sign anything the rest of the night.

He signed and talked and joked with fans for almost five hours.

''He was by far the most gracious celebrity ever to come to the store,'' manager Juan Jimenez said. ''We were amazed.''

"YOU said "Remember, the male of the species produces BILLIONS of sperm... and that's EVERY TIME he ejaculates.
The female of the species produces ONE OR TWO eggs... and that's ONLY EVERY SO OFTEN.
Make of it what you will."

As a biologist and zoologist I can confirm that THIS MEAN POLYGAMY. No doubt. In fact, in all the mammal species (with very very scarce exceptions) females try to find the BEST male they can in that moment, sometimes for a day, for a season, for a year. Males try to fecundate as many females as they can. That's why all the mammals practice polygamy. Human monogamy is a SOCIAL creation..."

Lots has happened since my last posting. Am negotiating with a television outlet for a GENE SIMMONS REALITY SHOW... Also, am having discussions about a SECOND possible show -- different in concept. But, that's all I can say for now about these two projects.

Enjoyed seeing you all at the Cleveland Book Signing. Thanks for coming.

Am proud to announce that my cartoon show, MY DAD THE ROCK STAR (Nelvana) debuted on Teletoons (the Canadian Cartoon Channel) on the 6th of Sept. The first go 'round (because the show is Canadian/French financed) is in Canada and France. Thereafter, it will see the light of day in America and the world.
We have 26 episodes, I'm proud to say. I've gotten calls from people who have seen it and liked it.

I've also been spending some time developing two new TV REALITY SHOWS that are developing a good head of steam. More on this as it develops.

In conjunction with its Sept. 9 retail release by Kiss Records/Sanctuary, the DVD "Kiss Symphony" will be screened on the same day in 21 Regal Cinemas theaters throughout the U.S., including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Atlanta. Tickets can be purchased in advance from Regal's official Web site. As previously reported, "Kiss Symphony" chronicles the veteran rock act's Feb. 28 concert in Melbourne in conjunction with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Beyond live performance clips, the two-DVD set also features a behind-the-scenes documentary, rehearsal footage and band interviews. The concerts were recently released on CD under the name "Kiss Symphony: Alive IV." Kiss is in the midst of an extensive co-headlining tour with Aerosmith that stops tomorrow (Aug. 27) outside Boston. Due to the recent blackout in the U.S., dates in Detroit, Nashville, Kansas City, Kan., Chicago and St. Louis were postponed. Visit Kiss' official Web site for rescheduling information. The tour is expected to continue well into the fall and may jump to Europe and other international markets next year.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Superstar makes art imitate life with new animated series on TELETOON

KISS Frontman Gene Simmons used personal
experience to create My Dad the Rock Star

( - Tuesday, August 12, 2003) He’s known as “The Demon”, and has lived the rock and roll life for decades, but Gene Simmons’ role as a father is the one he relied on to create My Dad the Rock Star, a new animated series produced by Nelvana, launching this fall on TELETOON.

“Gene Simmons is the essence of KISS, and those larger than life rock and roll heroes. He is very much the character of Rock Zilla,” said producer Marilyn McAuley. “He originally approached Nelvana to do a KISS cartoon, but this is the show that was meant to be. What kid out there isn’t mortified by their parents – in My Dad the Rock Star, Willy has extra big reasons to feel that generation gap. In the Zilla family, the parent/child roles are often reversed, with hilarious results.”

“My Dad the Rock Star is such a unique concept, and the fact that it’s based on the real-life experience of a celebrity father really makes the show resonate with both kids and their parents,” said TELETOON Supervising Producer Athena Georgaklis. “We know we’re going to get both our regular cartoon fans and the whole KISS army watching!”

In the first season of My Dad the Rock Star, the Zilla family adjusts to life off stage and off the road as they settle into their big home in the small town of Silent Springs. Naturally, the Zillas stick out as much as their wacky mansion, mothballed tour bus and limousines, so at first Willy tries to keep his father’s identity a secret at school. Realizing that’s a losing battle, Willy makes two fast friends in Alissa and Quincy, who help him deal with the bumpy process of fitting in.
