Teenage Cancer Trust believes young people’s lives shouldn’t stop because they have cancer, so we treat them as young people first, cancer patients second. We exist to improve the quality of life and chances of survival for the six young people aged between 13 and 24 diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. We want to make sure every one of them has access to the best possible care and professional support from the point of diagnosis.
• We fund and develop specialist units within NHS hospitals that bring young people together to be treated by teenage cancer experts in an environment tailored to meet their needs.
• By educating young people about cancer and working with health professionals to improve their knowledge, we work to significantly improve their diagnosis experience.
• And through our own research and by working with our partners in the NHS, Department of Health and organisations both nationally and internationally, we strive to improve survival rates. We lead the world in the care of young people with cancer. Together with these young people, their families and the passion of our supporters, we’re challenging the NHS and transforming lives.
One of the key events in the Teenage Cancer Trust calendar are the concerts for Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall; the brainchild of Teenage Cancer Trust’s longstanding patron and The Who frontman Roger Daltrey CBE.
Since 2000, the concerts for Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall have been captivating crowds with a rich blend of new musical and comedic talent alongside some of the biggest artists and bands in the world. Every year longstanding patron Roger Daltrey works tirelessly to arrange Concerts for Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall, securing the best possible line-ups and raising over £11million in that time. Artists that have appeared include Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller, Oasis, Depeche Mode, Coldplay, Eric Clapton, The Cure, Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Stereophonics, Kasabian, Suede, The Specials, Madness, Keane, Kaiser Chefs, Franz Ferdinand, Them Crooked Vultures, Razorlight, Bloc Party, Biffy Clyro, and Florence + the Machine.
Roger Daltrey says, “Without teenagers and their energy and passion for music, we wouldn’t have rock and roll as we know it. These gigs are my small way of giving something back. There is no doubt in my mind that we’re really making a difference.”
