EXCLUSIVE: ‘No one wants to do what their parents do!’ Gene Simmons’ daughter Sophie, 25, admits she spent years avoiding the music industry over fears of being compared to her dad as she launches her own singing career

  • Sophie Tweed-Simmons has released her debut track, Black Mirror
  • The youngest of Gene’s two children told Femail how she wrote her first song aged four but needed years of practice before she felt ready to perform
  • Between 2006 and 2012, Sophie appeared with her father, her mother Shannon Tweed, and her brother Nick on the reality show Gene Simmons Family Jewels
  • She has pursued modeling and computer science, while also becoming the patron of a center for physically, mentally or sexually abused children
  • Sophie avoided being a singer for years because she didn’t want to do into the same line of work as her father, the bassist and co-lead singer of Kiss
  • But her passion for singing proved too strong to ignore, and she ended up finding inspiration from the TV show Black Mirror to write her debut song
