Helsinki station paints tribute to Kiss

If you’re getting the train into Helsinki this weekend (and why wouldn’t you be?) then you will be greeted at the main train station in the Finnish capital by some rock legends..

The state-owned railway operator invited fans of veteran US rockers KISS to paint their signature black-and-white masks on to the imposing statues that stand guard outside the station.

The statues are officially called “lantern bearers” but are known by Finns as ‘stonemen’ and were given the makeover to mark the band’s gig next week.

Gives a new meaning to the term ‘rock’ stars.
